Survivor’s Hope went through a few iterations before we settled on the final version for release day.
The game originally had a karma system that would lead to one ending or another that we didn’t have time to implement, and it had more of a modern feel as opposed to the fantasy theme of the final version.
This had to be the first thing that got done – considering we were creating a visual novel. The narrative had to fall into place before anything else could continue.
We used Final Draft to write out the script, before moving to Twine to create a dialogue tree. We then divided these choices, along with the final version of the dialogue, into scenes in a separate document to measure progress and give ourselves achievable checkpoints.
